I have often wondered exactly what a Super User is, I heard it a lot at school, and so I googled it a few days ago. Now that I know what it is, how do I become a super user? I just want to be a super user in general not an OS based super user. I have toyed with Ubuntu before and mainly use Windows 7. Basically I want to know everything about everything in computers how do I accomplish this?

P.S. I know this is probably an incredibly broad question but I have idea where to begin and thought my best bet would be to ask a question here.

You can also touch a unicorn and become a Super User. – surfasb Dec 31 '11 at 6:33

Time and effort young grasshopper, time and effort. These are the only things that will help you here. – Mokubai Dec 31 '11 at 8:32
Perhaps the best way to become a super user is to sudo chown -R us /all/your/base – kobaltz Dec 31 '11 at 21:20

You'll have more chance asking this in chat, this simply doesn't belong on the site – Ivo Flipse Jan 1 at 9:43

On many computer operating systems, the superuser is a special user account used for system administration. Depending on the operating system, the actual name of this account might be: root, administrator or supervisor.

Normal work on such a system is done using ordinary user accounts, and because these do not have the ability to make system-wide changes any viruses and other malware - or simple user errors - do not have the ability to adversly affect a whole system. In organizations, administrative privileges are often reserved for authorized experienced individuals.

Thanks for the answer, but that is not exactly what I meant. So I edited my question a bit. – 11D Reality Hacker Jan 1 at 6:02
