You can use almost any hardware. I've even done this on a netbook. Wasn't ideal, but works. – kobaltz Jan 1 at 15:56
depends a lot on what you are going to use it for . Edit your question to add more details – Shakehar Jan 1 at 16:16

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. See the FAQ for guidance on how to improve it.

Hardware required: server with enough memory and space to host your site (based upon your site design). As far as software goes the two most popular options include IIS on the Windows platform and Apache on Linux. Most can be run with modest hardware but things you need to take into consideration are? Is your content going to be static or dynamic? Who is going to be hosting DNS for you? Are you trying to run this out of your home, a co-location or somewhere else? Is this the most cost effective option? Can you maintain it yourself if there is a problem or a breach? And finally is it for business or personal use?

Thank u lot sir! I want to create web hosting server and hire that server to others. Therefore that server will work on 24 hrs in all days. Some times electricity problems will occur. How can I prevent these problems. Please can u tell me? (I'm using Windows platform, It will be dynamic and static(mostly dynamic) contents. I suppose to get DNS from GoDaddy.com, Please tell me the cost effective option, It is for business purpose. Thank You very much sir!!! – sithira pathirana Jan 1 at 16:30
Get a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and/or a generator if you require 24x7 uptime. The more dynamic content that you have the more processing power and memory you will need as well. Be sure to monitor usage once things go live. Also be sure you monitor your bandwidth usage so none of your customers have problems with being unable to access the server. – Mark Scrano Jan 1 at 16:36
