I have an new Asus laptop that has both Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux dual-booted. These problems are occuring in Windows 7. I have changed my desktop background a few times and have turned off sounds, disabled my password on login, etc only for these things to be undone after the computer goes into hibernation. I realize this could be a Linux issue, but am not sure if it's off topic for this site.

These are these specs for the computer:

Asus Laptop / IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® Processor / 15.6" Display / 4GB Memory Model: X54H-BD3MA SKU: 4005394

The background I was seeing was actually a battery-saving theme that kicks in when the machine is unplugged. This had nothing to do with dual-booting.
