I have an nvidia fakeraid implementation (asus a8n32-sli) configured in a 3 disk raid 5 configuration. I have run the xubuntu 11 installer (desktop) in the "use entire disk" mode. At the end it tries to install a bootloader to /dev/sda. I tell it to install to /dev/mapper/nvidiaxxxxx (the device name --i.e., not a partition name).
When I reboot and get past the POST I just get a blinking cursor (pun intended). I should be seeing a "insert disk and press any key to continue" type message with a missing MBR.
Are there any caveats with Ubuntu installers and raid in version 11 ? I am at a loss as to what to do. I'm going to try manually installing grub2 next. However as far as I can tell from research the live installer does not have any issues dealing with fakeraid in version 11.
