Lately my PC has been shutting down during boot, most recently it has started doing it randomly during use as well. It will normally power off after the Bios screen when the Windows loading screen would normally show.

My temporary solution has been to let the PC "idle" in the boot device selection menu and let the PC "warm up" for 5 minutes or so before letting it proceed. This seems to by pass the problem. Also if the computer has been running for a while it will usually restart with out much trouble.

I just tried reformatting my HDD and installing a fresh copy of Windows, this has not helped at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it turns off after BIOS, sounds like it may be a power supply issue. –  zackrspv Jan 4 '12 at 22:39

Yes, the power supply is the #1 suspect. Luckily for you, they do not cost much. –  Mike Nakis Jan 4 '12 at 23:30

Yep, I've seen this a few times before and it was the power supply each time. –  BryceAtNetwork23 Jan 5 '12 at 0:39
