I am having internet problems with my ADSL connection. It was fine for years, then about two months ago the PPPoE connection started dropping out. I've called my ISP (aanet) and got the usual turn it off and on again response, I have also tried isolating the phone line to the modem to see if the issue is further down the line. I even bought a new modem thinking that might have been the problem. Still it happens. Sometimes it comes back itself a few seconds after dying, other times it will require a modem restart.

After doing some reading, I think I've established it's to do with the MTU settings. Using DrTcp I changed the MTU settings on all 3 devices using the connection (a PC using a LAN connection and two laptops wirelessly) to 1464 as advised. The errors still happens. I'm now at a bit of a loss of what to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Symptoms of a bad ADSL signal due to some problem on the line - get your ISP to test the line if they didn't do so initially – HaydnWVN Jan 6 at 11:07
