I have a (rather nice) TrendNet wireless IP cam, model TV-IP312W.

One of the features is saving a hunk of video to a network share whenever motion is detected.

It works great with a WinXP share, but I couldn't get it to work in Windows 7. (Actually I did, by using a share on Win7's built-in WinXP virtual machine :)

I tried lots of tricks and settings, to no avail. (For instance, I can now connect anonymously to the Win7 share from a WinXP machine - no login questions asked whatsoever, and there are no matching accounts on the two machines, but still the camera won't do it).

FWIW, the overwhelmingly helpful error message I get when I test the connection on the settings page is:

Test Failed!!
Error: Server mounting failed

Did anybody successfully connect a Trendnet cam to a Win7 share?

I'm thinking of hacking the firmware to allow telnet connection and then fiddle with the Samba settings on the camera, but it's worth a shot to ask if someone managed to fix this on the Windows side.

Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit windows? At trendnet.com/products/proddetail.asp?prod=105_TV-IP312w it says its only supported in 32-bit. – Reality Extractor Jan 7 at 19:20
