The error messages from apache are not helpful:

WARNING: terminating worker thread 0

I use netstat -ao to find out if port 80 is being used by an application or service but it shows nothing on it.

Any ideas to find out what is conflicting?

Make sure IIS isn't running. You could try changing the port to see if that is the issue, then go from there: complete-concrete-concise.com/web-tools/… – skub Jan 8 at 6:24
