I have P4 with Windows 7. I have Nvidia inno3d 250 PCI express card which also gets extra power from power supply with 6pin connector.

That desktop PC is mostly turn on 24 hrs as I keep downloading form it. I have set that computer turn display off after 30 mins.

I have USB mouse attached who red light always glow.

Now from last few days I have seen after some hours the US mouse light stops and it did not respond. I can still hear the CPU Fan running but I can't get anything on screen. I tried hitting keyboard but nothing happens

Even caps lock does not on.

Is that the power problem

I was thinking that if I use building Graphics card and keep PCI express card as it is. Will it consumes power as it is or I don't use it it won't consume anything

Sorry, your post makes no sense. If the computer is dead, why are you worried about the power the PCI card draws? – DanH Jan 9 at 3:47

Well, anyway, to answer the other question: The graphics card WILL draw power even when not actively used, though probably not nearly so much. – DanH Jan 9 at 4:06
I suspect the PC failing after being on for a while is due to overheating. – pjc50 Jan 9 at 12:18
