When I first got this card, it was on the x16 slot of the motherboard. DirectX was unstable and nvidia driver was crashing in no particular circumstances. I realized that I had no such issue on the x8 slot so I stayed like that. Several months after, the card brutally crashed under warranty. I just got a new one. I inserted it in the x16 slot and I quickly got my nvidia driver crashing and restoring again (I noticed that it was when playing some audio this time). I didn't have the latest nvidia driver so I installed it. The crash still happened. Now on the x8 slot and I am waiting to get a crash or not.
Of course you are not in front of my computer and you can't investigate but since I'm not a hardware pro, I have some general questions:
Could it be a problem of power consumption (I have 550W)?
Could something in the bios fix this kind of issue?
Since the graphics card was new in both cases, could the motherboard be the culprit? Or the pair motherboard/graphics_card? Note that I tried some spare graphics card I had in another computer on x16 slot and all was ok.
Something I should try?
Thanks
