I thought about this a long time ago but still forgot to find an answer. All I know a modem is used to convert the analogue signals to digital form. But what does represent the 1's and 0's? What are the frequencies used? How does it travel through electric current?

@Moab You haven't even voted to reopen. This is beyond the scope of Super User, and there is no specific problem to solve – this is why I've voted to close. Feel free to raise a reopen request on Meta though. – slhck Jan 11 at 23:37
@slhck "Too bad" does not mean I wish to re-open, its just a great question that's all. – Moab Jan 11 at 23:40
