Using shares with a drobo fs and a mac

Question

I have a couple of questions about shares on my new drobo:

1. I dont understand what effect mounting the share has (mounting via drobo dashboard). The drobo shares look the same in finder whether they are mounted or not.

2. Is there anyway to get the drobo shares showing in finder as seperate drives, instead of all being effectively sub-folders of a the drobo drive.
