In Chrome and Safari, when in the address bar, I can open the web page in a new tab using the key.

In Firefox (9.0.1) for Mac the web page gets opened in the same tab. Is it possible to change the behavior so that it is consistent with Chrome and Safari?

Safari can also open form result pages in a new tab when pressing Cmd while clicking the submit button. Major reason to not use one of the "better" browsers. I don't care about 1 ms of JavaScript processing time, but something like this bugs me. – Daniel Beck Jan 16 at 11:35
@DanielBeck Thanks for that informative link! I have not understood the hint you gave about Safari. What are the form result pages? When I CMD-click the submit button, I can only drag it out of the toolbar. – gentmatt Jan 16 at 12:10
I meant HTML forms. Like the comment form of the blog. In Safari, you can Cmd-Click the submit button, and it will open the result page in a new tag. Very handy on some sites. This feature is broken in Safari 5.1 though. – Daniel Beck Jan 16 at 12:22
