I'm looking for a (hopefully) open-source movie library/database application to be able to navigate my 2000+ movie collection (all in digital files, ripped from owned DVDs). My platform is Linux (so Java applications are also fine).

I've toyed around with some good software, but they all require me to manually enter movie titles, which are then queried against a database like IMDB to pull the cover and information. Seeing as my collection is large, I would much rather prefer an automatic aggregation method that can either scan a drive/directory for recognizable names or accept a text file with movie names as an input.

Is there anything out there that could do this for me?

I'd recommend XBMC for Linux. It's open-source, and from my experience, appears to be designed for large movie libraries.

Have you tried using Boxee ?

It supports Linux

I was looking for more of a standalone application dedicated to movies. Boxee looks a little bloated for what I need, but thanks :) – MaxMackie Jan 16 '12 at 15:14
