Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Cross posted to Webapps - the solution can either be a desktop program or a website.

I currently have to manage all these "inboxes":

  • Gmail/Google Chat
  • Facebook
  • Google+
  • Stack Exchange
  • Quora
  • Reddit
  • Google Reader

I get events from all of these (emails/chats/FB notifications/posts) that I want to monitor and sometimes respond to. This is becoming exhausting - I need to check five or more different sites just to clear my "incoming" box (G+ has notification inside Gmail, thank god).

Is there a something that can manage these "incoming events"? I want one place where I can consume these events easily.

Features of these services must be supported, or it's not good - I should be able to Vote on Reddit/StackExchange, Like and tag on social networks, mark as unread from Google Reader.

Everything must be synched to the web - I have two desktop computers and one Android device, and I don't want to miss notifications or get double notifications because of sync problems between these devices.

Replying inline inside the application is required. I'd hate to have to jump into the different websites, I want to do all this interaction from inside the app.

Good UI/UX is a must - if the font is too small, layout is butt ugly, or it just has a bad UX, I won't like it and won't use it. Good keyboard shortcuts are also indispensable to help me manage this information quickly (Think Gmail/Google Reader shortcuts).

For webapps, Good login mechanism with OpenID / Facebook - I don't want to remember yet another super secure password like my Gmail pass - but this site will have access to all my stuff, so I can't use my default easy pass. KeePass is no good because I'll be logging into this site a lot. So the conclusion is that it has to support either Facebook or Open ID login (and have a decent easy to use implementation of it).

So ... is there anything out there yet that does this?

Cross-posting is discouraged on Stack Exchange. One of your questions will have to be closed or deleted. – iglvzx Jan 18 '12 at 21:28
@iglvzx - I know ... but this really belongs on both. I had to do it, I'm sorry. – ripper234 Jan 18 '12 at 21:40
I just use a smartphone with a centralized notification center like iOS or Android ¯\(°_o)/¯ – roviuser Jan 18 '12 at 21:59
@roviuser - too weak for my taste. And I get far to many "events", and am far faster on a desktop, to consider this. – ripper234 Jan 18 '12 at 22:08

For all those 6 site and all the 76 of Stackexchange together? No.
But you can still have a look at Threadsy. It can fulfill some of your wishes.

No OpenID login ... a bad start. I don't want to remember yet another super secure password like my Gmail pass - but this site will have access to all my stuff, so I can use my default easy pass. KeePass is no good because I'll be logging into this site a lot... I should add OpenID to my list of requirements. I'm building an impossible list, I know. – ripper234 Jan 18 '12 at 21:42
Its a good product idea. Go ahead, gather a team and build it. Good luck. :) BTW, You cannot comment and vote StackExchange sites from any external app. It has a Read only API. So no luck with that. – Bibhas Jan 18 '12 at 21:46
WTF with absolutely zero info to non-logged in users on their homepage? There is a static image and not a movie, and no about page. People are really getting cheeky. – ripper234 Jan 18 '12 at 21:47
maybe some day, I'm rather busy a.t.m with another startup. Hopefully mutating SE API will be released by the time I'm done. I don't want to checkout Threadsy right now because of the lack of OpenID or any information on their homepage. – ripper234 Jan 18 '12 at 21:49
As you wish. OpenID maybe an issue, but that two liner explains the product well. That's what I think atleast. Anyway, good luck finding that app. Please let us know if you find anything good. – Bibhas Jan 18 '12 at 21:52
