I am considering loading the photos to a hard disk. However, if I lose the hard disk, then I lose all the photos.

Is there a web application that allows for efficient and reliable storage of so many photos?

Not going to recommend even migrating to Web Apps unless you've tried and tested some app or program and want to get more or better out of it – random♦ Jan 19 '12 at 4:55
