I couldn't believe it the first time it happened to me this morning, but then I repeated it again and again.

Here's what happened:

  1. I select and cut a paragraph (command-x)
  2. the font of the previous paragraph changes (from Times New Roman to Microsoft Sans Serif)
  3. jaw falls open; undo with (command-z)
  4. text reappears, previous paragraph retains wrong font

So it won't even let me undo it!

What's going on here? I know there's typically lots of problems when text is pasted into programs, but that's not what I was doing here.

Specs:

  • Mac OS X 10.5
  • Word 2008 for Mac (12.2.4)

@kinokijuf Pretty sure it's Word. Doesn't happen with any program actually developed by Apple. Consider keeping your nonconstructive comments to yourself. – Daniel Beck Jan 23 at 9:12
@DanielBeck Doesn’t happen with Word for Windows. – kinokijuf Jan 23 at 12:08
@kinokijuf Let's see. It's a different product, with different features, different look and feel, and different developers (the Mac Business Unit at Microsoft). So, not surprisingly, it behaves different, and can have bugs and quirks not present in a different, although similarly named product. – Daniel Beck Jan 23 at 12:21
