I hope this is the right place to ask, I couldn't find any better. When I watch a movie with subtitles on my edge-lit LED LCD TV, dark pictures get very washed out in the bottom part of the screen each time a subtitle appears.

So imagine a nice, dark picture with lots of detail, then suddenly when a subtitle appears, the lower part of the image is much brighter, then it gets back to normal when the subtitle disappears. This keeps repeating over and over.

Is there a way to fix this? My TV is LG SL9500 and my source is the Boxee Box, if this helps.

The Q&A format here is suited to questions on computers. However, I imagine that the problem would be caused by your TV's "dynamic contrast" or other image "enhancement" effects. They're useful for normal TV where the quality isn't great, but if it's being fed via your Boxee Box via digital link you don't want the TV adjusting the image your Boxee sends. Try "PC" or "Game" mode on your TV, or go into the options and turn off as many "enhancements" as you can. – ta.speot.is Jan 21 at 0:47
Currently, sadly, there is no place to ask questions on consumer electronics – Nate Koppenhaver Jan 21 at 4:31
