Short : Can msata ssd disks be used and bootable in a Dell Vostro V13.

Long : I have a Dell Vostro V13 which hard drive and ribbon cable have died. It may be possible to replace both of these but I have concerns that the sata controller may have also died. At the moment I am running linux from usb.

There are two mini pci-e (mini pci express) card slots on this motherboard, a 'half height' for the wlan and an empty slot for wwan/3G type cards. From my research I understand that there are only a few wwan cards that will work in this slot due to locking in the bios. Are msata cards compatible? Will they be locked out via the bios?

I have searched online and read up as much as I can, but even wikipedia isn't sure whats going on with mini pci-e and msata's.

Your time and help is much appreciated.
