I have an issue with my (self-build) computer, each time after the Windows Update process completes and initiates a reboot my keyboard is unresponsive (the mouse is fine)

Pressing the reset button allows me to login after a second reboot.

The machine doesn't respond to Remote Desktop (or DameWare Remote Control - I tried a trial).

It has reasonably stock components (a DX58-SO Intel mobo with 2 * 300 GB Raptors, an i7 processor and Crucial memory)

It does route through a KVM but I don't believe this to be related as, when it is unresponsive, if I plug another external keyboard in it doesn't respond either.

Any ideas?

It's funny that you tried a 2nd keyboard, but haven't removed or replaced the KVM to test that either. I would recommend removing the KVM, especially if your keyboard is USB using a USB-PS/2 adapter. I have actually had similar situations, and the KVM was to blame. – Tim Jan 18 at 15:36
Sorry to disinter this, but I've just revisited it post Windows Update. I took the KVM out of the equation and it behaved in exactly the same fashion – noonand May 4 at 9:01
