I do not accept Google’s new privacy policy, so I have switched to Bing. Is there a way to replace the google on Firefox’s start page with a bing?

Why not just select a different homepage? – Oliver Salzburg Jan 26 at 13:23

-1 User does not mention essential facts (non-English language, non-stable build) required to answer question. – Daniel Beck Jan 26 at 13:45
@kinokijuf When you are asking a question in a forum in English, I think it's quite obvious for everyone to think that you are using English software. – Chethan S. Jan 26 at 13:56

… unless you're stating otherwise. Or it does not matter for the question, but why would you then mention it? – slhck Jan 26 at 13:58

@kinokijuf I don't. It's still relevant information, and if you receive answers that don't work for you, they're not bad because of it. And regarding the request that others delete their answers because they don't work for you: Remember that the intention of this site is to be a useful help resource for everybody. These appear to be perfectly acceptable answers for users in a similar situation. A situation your question might fit perfectly btw, since you did not specify your additional requirements. – Daniel Beck Jan 26 at 13:59

Seems like there might be a solution on the Mozilla Support page. Click Tools>For website authors>Sandbox, enter
javascript:{localStorage["search-engine"]="{\"name\":\"Bing\",\"searchUrl\":\"http://www.bing.com/search?q=_searchTerms_&form=OSDSRC\"}";void(0);}
and click Execute>Run. This will change the search option and about:home from Google to Bing.
Also, on the about:config page change browser.search.defaultenginename to Bing.

@ChethanS. If that's what they got or adapted from the page I think it's fine. Otherwise they could always choose to add their own answer, but it doesn't do any harm. Oliver is free to roll back though. – slhck Jan 26 at 13:59
@slhck - what you say makes sense. Thank you for correcting me. – Chethan S. Jan 26 at 14:01

You may want to use Firefox with Bing

Bing will be set as your homepage and search engine.

Do you expect people who answer to intuitively understand that you are using a nightly build, that too in a foreign language? If you make this point in your question, we could answer accordingly. So voting -1 is not at all justified! – Chethan S. Jan 26 at 13:42

Go to Tools -> Options, and under 'Home Page' put http://www.bing.com/

Sorry; I had mine set to Google and I did not realize that this was the default page you were referring to.. I will try to look into it // You could try this add-on: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bing , or script your own page. – ekaj Jan 26 at 13:23

And you can remove your downvote since you didn't specify that this was a foreign language – ekaj Jan 26 at 13:46
