I am working on a Toshiba L655D-S5066 laptop, with Realtek inside. I believe it was working fine for a long time, but not is seems intermittent.
When you turn the unit on, there is an LED on the front for the wireless - if that light comes on during power-up (before windows boots), then it will work perfectly.
If that light does not come on, it does not show up at all! Not in device manager, not even in Toshiba's assist "F8" software! If you hold the function key in windows, the F8 option is not there!
I have drive a complete factory restore, tried formatting with a windows 7 cd, tried installing various of the latest toshbia drivers, including a realtek that mentioned an issue with the wireless and bios. I also tried updating the bios to 1.7, then 2.1 (which mentioned an issue with the wireless light fixed).
At one point I had it about 50% of the time working - every time I would reboot it would 50% be working (on) or off. However, at the moment I have rebooted about 5 times, not working at all.
I have tried power off, disconnect the cord/battery, no difference.
Any ideas, or anyone familiar with this issue?
