I've got HP Pavillion dm1-4004sa notebook recently.

I installed Ubuntu 11.10, and it randomly freezes.. because of graphic drivers. I tried many things suggested at different places including this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11594910

* fglrx-update installation: worked for some hours without freezing - but freezes after 2 or 3 hours !! I hate this..
* previous ubuntu version 11.04, 10.04: WIFI did not work ...

About to try Linux Mint. Thought of asking suggestions here to know that anybody here already used some Linux distro with HP DM1 notebooks with success ? Am open to use any Linux distro that can be easily installed and used - without issues in Display, WIFI and basic things for this notebook. ( FYI, I used Ubuntu, Debian in laptops, but that does not work well with this notebook. )

If you are not aware of this particular notebook - kindly suggest any flavor that is good for notebooks in general.

Asked in stackoverflow, closed ! I believe this is the right place for this question ..

The answer is ANY DISTRO! .. Your problem is with AMD Radeon HD 6320M graphics card not being compatible with the base drivers(it most likely trying to load the Full driver instead of the Mobile one). Welcome to the world of Linux! How to fix it.. you will have to add drivers to the install CD and tell it to look there somehow... Just stick with Windows7.. or try Linux Server without any X.. because that is what it does best. – ppumkin Jan 31 at 11:57
AMD is very tricky to get going well on Linux. You will continue to struggle with ANY distro you try. Ubuntu isn't the problem, it's your hardware and the drivers that run it – Simon Sheehan Jan 31 at 12:02
