An hourglass flashes constantly as I type. When it's on, the keyboard accepts no input resulting in lots of typos. This does not occur in any other program. What's going on and how do I fix it?

Is it possible that it could be saving recovery files - that can cause this effect. You could try disabling it or changing the frequency with which it saves (Bubble > Word Options > Save). Auto-recovery saves can be particularly slow when saving to a network location. | |||

Try starting in safe Mode to see if it is an addin or something else. Select Run from the Windows Start menu Type winword.exe /a (you must insert the space before the /a; also, you may need to type the entire file path or use the Browse button to locate the file) See if there is any change.
