I have to run a local webserver off a Pogoplug, as a result of which resources are very constrained (128 MB RAM, dual core chip but not very fast). Usage on the server is going to be low at present - a maximum of five or so simultaneous users. However it has to run the webserver, mysql and PHP. I am aware that NGINX and lighttpd are much better than Apache at high usage levels, but is there a significant difference at these kinds of low usage levels?

It just appears that Apache may be easier to configure given the wealth of stuff out there for it already (I'm a server newbie) so not sure if it is necessary to use one of the other server packages. System is Debian Linux Squeeze.

what constitutes "low usage"? It's a fairly speculative question. – Sathya Feb 2 at 8:28
