I am trying to print something from a printer that is connected through a USB cable, however I want the USB port to act like a COM port for my software. So how do I make my USB port work like a COM port ?

I have already shared my printer and already tried the following command:

net use COM2 \\computername\printername /persistent:yes

The above command is not working, when I try with LPT1 it does work.

The error I receive is error 66, everything seems to be typed fine because when I do:

net view \\computername

I see my printer.

Help would be appreciated :)

Printer drivers almost never emulate a serial port, always a parallel port. Just don't do it this way. support.microsoft.com/kb/322091 – Hans Passant Feb 7 at 12:23
