I have a problem with a HP DeskJet 6940 that won't work with Microsoft Word.

The printer is used in a Citrix XenDesktop environment, but the printer problem doesn't seem to be related to that explicitly. The printer shows up under Devices and Printers, it's possible to print from other applications (including other MS Office applications), just not Microsoft Word. When selecting the printer in the list Word tries to connect to it but fails and if I try to show printer preferences I get an error message stating that the printer cannot be connected.

Any ideas on what might be the problem? The event log simply shows that the printer could not be connected and show the following for the event:

P1: 701386
P2: 14.0.4763.1000
P3:
P4: 0x80070002

If I'm not mistaken 0x80070002 is a file access error, but what file?

excuse my ignorance, How are you running Word on a Citrix desktop environment?, Does it fail to print from other OS environments? – Moab Feb 9 at 17:02
