I want to archive my SMS and MMS messages on my Android phone. I found a few applications that can do this and save the results to an SD card or email. That's nice, but not powerful enough for me. I want something that I can automate (preferably from the commandline).

Is there a way I can connect to my phone and run a bash console? Once I'm in, how can I access the SMS database? Can I copy the database to my computer via USB? Are the messages stored in a SQLite database? Which table are they in?

Just so you know, there's also a StackExchange site dedicated to Android: android.stackexchange.com – Oliver Salzburg Feb 21 '12 at 22:54

Oh ok. Thanks. How do I migrate my question over there? – hekevintran Feb 21 '12 at 23:22

I guess you would have to flag for moderator attention. – Oliver Salzburg Feb 22 '12 at 0:14
