OS: Win7 I use game explorer now but I would really like something similar that looks better and has more functionality, such as maybe XBMC but for games. Is there an alternative or do I have to stick with game explorer?

There's many programs with similar features to Game Explorer. These three are very popular and commonly used. They also have good social features to them. (XFire is in English, screenshot is not, sorry)
Steam (Custom skin in screenshot)
These also has similar features to Game Explorer but aren't as well known as the above programs
