I did some research, and all I found for windows were twitter clients that require either adobe Air or .Net.

What I want is a twitter client that doesn't require ANY additional install, just double click on the .exe file and it works 2 minutes later.

is there such twitter client on windows?

Probably... but I don't expect quality from that. – WebDevHobo Sep 11 '09 at 10:48

Don't want browser based? I don't like Air, so I am using a browser based client. – Vandelizer Sep 11 '09 at 10:49

The AIR install is slick and easy (no worse than the flash browser plugin for instance), and if the app is well designed it works nicely. – RBerteig Sep 19 '09 at 4:42

Is it time to write yet another client? – syockit Mar 6 '11 at 15:34

You do understand that .Net is THE development platform for Windows, so anything that is developed in .Net is by definition a native application. Odds are that the .Net framework is already installed anyhow. – Kirk Jun 14 '11 at 3:05

I actually use twitter through a plugin for Pidgin. Since I use it for all of my chats anyway, it was just most logical to extend my existing environment

You could use Cheebow (download link if you don't know Japanese):

  • Native and written in Delphi
  • Pretty responsive
  • Requires no prequisites
  • Only one catch: no English UI, only Japanese

I guess no English-speaking/international developers have ever thought of coding a native Twitter client.

If you don't mind .NET, another good client which supports English is Tween.

  • Older versions only require .NET 2.0
  • Versions after 0.9 require .NET 3.5.

The new Seesmic for Windows looks good:

It's a native app that's designed to fit into Windows well. Looks pretty nice as well!

It's a .NET application. They used .NET 3.5 and WPF as UI framework. – SeeR Nov 21 '09 at 10:06
Yep, so it will work on any modern Windows distro. – Rich Bradshaw Nov 21 '09 at 14:29

but seesmic for windows is slow and sluggish. Also, it doesn't scroll with my touchpad scroller... – detj Feb 15 '10 at 20:13
