I have a few domains which I think are quite good. But my day job is something else and I do not want to spend too much time in finding buyers.

Which is a good and simple service for selling domains?

Thanks & Regards,

Vinayak

As mentioned by others, Sedo is a good place to list your names. Also, you should try Afternic. You can list your names, optionally set a price, and also specify categories to list your names under. Both services do have a CSV (spreadsheet) upload so you don't have to enter each name manually. If you do list at Afternic, you can choose their Expanded promotion which will list your names on many other services. You can expect to pay from 10% - 20% for these services, which do include escrow fees.

Do keep in mind that the marketplaces are flooded with tons of names, so they certainly should not be your primary means for selling the name.

A few other ideas to sell names (in addition to marketplaces)

  1. Put a "for sale" link or image on the page
  2. Update your WhoIs to indicate the name is for sale (eg. put "This name may be for sale" in the company name box
  3. Reach out to potential end users such as those bidding on the keyword that matches your domain
  4. Consign your names to SnapNames auctions
  5. Submit your names to RickLatona.com domain sales newsletter
  6. Consign them to a live auction (Moniker, DomainTools, Rick Latona, etc)

Godaddy has a service to help you sell domains. You could also set up a simple page saying the page is for sale, along with your email. If the domain is as good as you say it is, I'm sure you'll get interested buyers pretty quickly.

If you do just put up a for sale message, don't forget to protect your email address from spam bots in some way or you'll get a stack load of junk. – Simon P Stevens Sep 11 '09 at 13:29
yep, using name[at]domain is usually okay, or an image of your email. – John T Sep 11 '09 at 13:39

Sedo.com is what I used to buy and sell domains, as well as GoDaddy.com (which John T mentioned).

I've negotiated for a few domains via Sedo and was happy with their process - it seemed respectful yet would try to "push" the domains and sent reminders. I don't know how much they charge but it is a good service. – Dave Drager Sep 11 '09 at 15:05
