I'm looking for an index-creation software.

I have a lot of CD's which I need indexed and catalogized. I want to see the content of the cd in the index.

I've been using SuperCat previously, now I'm looking for Freeware or Open Source alternatives for a Windows system.

I'm not looking specifically for movies or music or whatever. All kind of data is involved. Something like SuperCat is the best, which let me browse the indexed CD.

Oh, and please software which is still being developed, not dead ones from ancient times ;)

EDIT: I need the app. to be able to run under Windows 7

Doesn't Gentibus CD run on Win7? In case of problems you can set its Compatibility to Vista or something. –  harrymc Oct 20 '09 at 20:10

It works well for all file types and has a good and quick search function (that you can see in the image below):
