How much RAM is required for a 0.5 second frame buffer on a video card that is displaying 30fps, has a screen resolution of 1280x1024, and uses a color depth of 4-36 Bits?
As a programming student I have to take hardware. I understand why but sometime questions are simply too hardware technical for my programming brain. Hence my field of choice. Feel free to give me a slag. I have searched for the answer. My textbook, is of little help.
The closest formula that I can find is: "The panel size and bits per pixel determine the amount of memory needed to hold the graphic buffer." For 16 bits a 320k,
http://bugclub.org/beginners/memory/VideoMemory.html gave an answer of 384K for 16 bits.
Neither source listed anything about frame buffer or framepanels(fps).
I am not asking for the answer, just some guidance, because one, I do not know if the above statement is true, and two, I have no idea where to locate such technical answers. I can figure out most things on my own, but this has got me stumped.
Some guidance would be appreciated.
