I followed the instructions on how to revert to Windows 7 after installing Windows 8, and this worked. My only issue, however, is that I can see the files on my desktop but I cannot open them (e.g. Office, Applications etc). I have moved the files from Win 8 to Win 7 and still cannot open any files. Also, when I click on the files the Windows installer prompts and hangs there.

Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, - Paick

You should use Process Monitor to see where the Installer hangs. – surfasb Mar 27 '12 at 0:55
Have you taken ownership of those files? – Corporate Geek Apr 1 '12 at 14:07
