Using Win 7 x64 and I have a device in my device manager that is not being used. Actually the "hardware" is not there, so its nonsense to have it in the device manager. I can disable it, but not possible to uninstall. If I try to uninstall I get the Message Confirm Device Uninstall "Warning. You are about to install this device from your system" - OK/Cancel. I click on OK. Even after a reboot the device is still there. What is wrong?

If it is an Intel Network adapter, see this article for manual removal instructions..intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-029916.htm – Moab Mar 30 '12 at 16:20
