I am using iMac 27 with Lion Mac Os 10.7.3.

I was using a hard disk for time machine back up which was working fine till the internal hard disk crashed. After replacing the hard disk I was able to restore the system back to normal using the time machine back up hard disk. On reconnecting the same hard disk for continued back up, the system hangs. Even erasing the backed up data and a fresh attempt to back up using time machine also does not work. The system hangs after backing up for some time. I have excluded the hard disk problems by connecting another hard disk.

Has any one come across this problem? Any solution for this problem?

Maybe the problem is with the replacement internal drive or internal cable or controller. – Brian Swift Apr 11 '12 at 15:52
What do you mean by "hangs"? Does it require a reset? Can you look in Activity Monitor and see if the CPU and HDD are intensively used? Maybe spotlight is re-indexing, and you need to leave it for awhile. – Radoo Apr 11 '12 at 15:52
