I use Ubuntu and i need to access to the Windows shared folders of a remote LAN network through VPN. I connect successfully to the VPN through a DDNS service ( but i can't see the folders in the remote LAN.

I installed samba in my machine and modified /etc/samba/smb.conf to put the same workgroup than in the remote lan.

smbtree only shows my local shared folder.

Thank you!

Have you tried the steps suggested here:…? You might also want to verify that you can access port 445 on the Windows machine through VPN. – erikxiv Apr 21 '12 at 18:14
Does the VPN forward broadcasts, and are your local machine and the remote host sending broadcast requests at the same address? – jelmer Apr 21 '12 at 22:45
