I recovered some files from a lost backup using ProSoft Data Rescue for OS X, but without any extension or indication of the filetype.

I've tried the file utility but to no avail, all I get is a unknown binary formatted data.

What software can I use to find the file extensions of unknown file type?

I've uploaded a file here, if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

What utility did you use to recover these files? – Akash May 2 '12 at 7:04

I used Prosoft Data Rescue for Mac, others programs I've tried on Mac and Windows, simply don't find anything. – user131678 May 2 '12 at 7:11

Did you contact ProSoft support? I mean, you paid a hundred bucks for that software, dropping a support e-mail should be included in the price. – Bobby May 2 '12 at 7:57
