I replaced a broken screen on a Dell Latitude D620. I didn't notice until later that the original screen was WXGA and the replacement WXGA+. Both were offered as options on this particular model. Now the screen identifies itself as 1440x900 but the display is lower res and it looks pretty bad all told.

Can the screen be made to work at native res w/this laptop?

I doubt it. You probably have a WXGA controller. But you can try. Go into the device manager and Uninstall the monitor. Then reboot. – David Schwartz May 19 '12 at 9:30
