I am very new to Linux (currently have Ubuntu 12.04) and would like to configure my email relay system. Here is my current network setup: -the linux machine serves as a gateway; it is connected to the router-ISPmodem-internet -email users do not exist as local users on the linux box -all other PCs access the internet via the linux box using squid-proxy -all other PCs use Outlook as their email client -Outlook clients send email using multiple "from" addresses (some emails are sent from gmail.com, some hotmail.com, some whateverISP.com)

I would like the linux box to be able to: -receive/accpt emails from other PCs (from Outlook) -send those emails using my ISP's smtp server -collect emails from multiple pop servers -deliver those emails to appropriate mail boxes that will be accessed by Outlook clients -distribute received emails based on sorting rules when accessed by Outlook clients -deliver emails to a master user (postmaster) if the system cannot figure out who the actual recipient is

I think I have an idea what pieces I need (postfix, fetchmail, some sasl). I would prefer not to save passwords in clear text on the linux box but if there is no way around it, so be it.
