I can't get my thumb drive to appear on the desktop using Mac OS X Lion version. Things I've already done to try and rectify this are:

  1. In Finder/preferences, External disks checked for show on desktop and in the Sidebar tab.
  2. In Disk Utility, the thumb drive appears (not grayed out), but the blue Mount button at top of screen is grayed out when the thumb drive is selected.
  3. Switched the thumb drive from a hub to a direct USN connection on my iMac.

Any other suggestions?
