I have an Acer Aspire 5735Z, app 4-5 years old. I am trying to run a game, but can't because I don't have the correct drivers installed. So I want to install the proper one. I am using Windows 7.
From device manager:
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
From the Linux tool 'lshw':
*-display description: VGA compatible controller product: Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 02 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:41 memory:b0000000-b03fffff memory:a0000000-afffffff ioport:3050(size=8)
From Acer's data sheet on the laptop:
Mobile Intel® GL40 Express Chipset with integrated 3D graphics, featuring Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M (Intel® GMA 4500M) with up to 1759 MB of Intel® Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0 (64 MB of dedicated video memory, up to 1695 MB of shared system memory), supporting Microsoft® DirectX® 10.
Attempt 1 - Windows driver search:
Using the update driver functionality in device manager. It downloaded something, installed it properly, but I still can't play the game.
Attempt 2 - From Acer's support page:
Downloading from Acer's support site for this laptop (here). It says that it is incompatible with my operating system. It does not say on their page nor in the error message what OS it is for.
Attempt 3 - From Intel's support page:
Looking at Intels page for the product. There are no links for downloading the driver. However, if I click any of the related products I can easily find drivers for those.
Advice on where and how to find the proper driver is much appreciated.
