I'm a big fan of firefox speed dial plugin.

I want to find a web application that will replace it in order to let me use this kind of tool from any browser and from anywhere.

I have mess around with netvibes, but adding only one shortcut is already boring... I'm pretty sure that there is something similar around.

Have you looked at any of these? Speed Dial Alternatives

Thanks. Yes, I have tried both myfav.es and symbaloo... This is quite like what I'm looking for... But I miss the living web page miniature of the speed dial. –  Guillaume Jun 7 '12 at 6:59
I know that Speed Dial thumbnails aren't really "live", but images cached in your Mozilla profile folder, though the image can be refreshed. From what I have been reading about website snapshot generation, the image is typically stored server-side, which can take up a lot of space if someone is providing a service like Speed Dial (hence the generic images like on myfav.es). That may be one reason there is no web-based service like this right now AFAIK. Another suggestion is to do it yourself, if you know how to code at all (PHP or ASP were suggested in what I was reading). –  jb11 Jun 7 '12 at 19:20
I should definitively consider one of them even if I miss the visual part (and a bit of the fluent aspect of speed dial: drag'n drop from the adress bar). I should be able to code the grid part I'm not sure to be able to create the website snapshots. –  Guillaume Jun 7 '12 at 22:17
There are a number of services that do website thumbnail generation like these as well as scripts like this. It all depends on your resources. If you have access to a web server you can create your own page and either run your own thumbnail script or pull the images from one of the services. –  jb11 Jun 7 '12 at 22:28
Thanks a lot for these helpful resources ! –  Guillaume Jun 8 '12 at 6:54
