I want to install multiple OSes on my dell laptops. I have tried installing Windows 8 Consumer Preview and WinPE 4.0, but I cannot active WinPE 4.0 and login to it. I have verified only install Winpe 4.0 in my machine, it could normally access Winpe 4 0. I have tried the following steps:

  1. run diskpart in Windows 8 command prompt
  2. run select disk 0
  3. run select partition 5
  4. run active

Winpe 4.0 is location partition 5; after running "active" it shows "The selected disk is not a fixed MBR disk. The ACTIVE command can only be used on fixed MBR disks."

Test environment：

  • OS： Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit
  • BIOS: A01 UEFI mode
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-3317U 1. 70GHZ
  • HDD: SG 320 GB

Is there a way to set that partition to be active?
