How do I update the latest version of java to my ubuntu 11.04 having difficulties need instructions on how and what to do to get downloaded to my ubuntu 11.04?

If you mean Java 7, this is most likely not available on 11.04...if it is any, then via binary installation (outside of apt) or via a ppa. – Bobby Jun 25 '12 at 8:26
    
when i do download java 6 or 7 jdk or jdr i cant find a progam to open the files with or it say there is an error of some kind and how would i go about installing via binary installion method and what a ppa? – sonny Jun 25 '12 at 9:24
