I'm running both Google Chrome Canary and Google Chrome Portable (from http://portableapps.com/)

The issue I'm experiencing is that Google Chrome is being installed onto my PC whenever Google Chrome Canary is updated (or possibly when the Google Chrome Portable version is updated through the Portable Apps application, I haven't figured out which).

I only have Google Chrome Canary as a full version and don't know why the full version of Google Chrome is being installed due to this setup; it's annoying having to uninstall it.

I have several accounts signed into each of the two different versions of Chrome and have found in the past that Google Chrome and Google Chrome Portable on the same machine don't play nicely with each other (issues causing frequent uninstall and re-installs) and that Google Chrome Canary and Google Chrome Portable was the best compromise.

Google chrome portable has no update service since this would mean a portable software has to create & register a new windows service. This would be against all portable determinations. Your updates must be from the installed canary build with its build-in google update service. (Of course there are manual updaters for portable chrome but I don't think you are using one of them) – nixda Dec 29 '12 at 3:01
