I want to write down my name in hand-written style with my touchpad or mouse, since I don't have any better input device.

Most graphic drawing software provides ways to draw lines, but when trying to use this way to write down some words, it is usually not as good as writing down on a piece of paper with a pen. So I wonder if there is some software or website providing writing with touchpad or mouse as close as possible to hand writing?

My OS is Ubuntu 12.04, so I prefer Linux/Debian software, but Windows software that can be run under Wine or Mono will be okay. Thanks!

I think you are going to be limited by input device. Are you looking to do this numerous times or just create a handwritten signature? –  CharlieRB Jul 24 '12 at 14:29
@CharlieRB: Just create my handwritten signature. –  Tim Jul 24 '12 at 14:34

The solution to your question is a writing tablet which comes with software to interface with the computer. These are typically expensive and vary in complexity.

Free Solution: Since you only seeking to get your signature into an image file, this is what I did when I wanted my signature for electronic documents and such. If you have access to a scanner, sign a piece of white paper and scan it to an image file. A dark heavy marker works best. Sign big and then edit the image to crop and re-size to your liking.

Thanks! If using a writing tablet, will the output be an image in some format with the hand written words? Can I directly write words on an existing pdf file? –  Tim Jul 24 '12 at 20:31
To both your questions; it all depends on the software used to interface with the tablet. You would have to research that yourself to find what meets your needs. –  CharlieRB Jul 25 '12 at 13:34
