The solution architect on my team is on vacation and I've been tasked with coordinating some of his work. I need some help with some of the network engineering phraseology being used when I'm dealing with the vendor engineers. The work we're doing is to uplift a large test environment to production level.

One engineer wants to know what IOS's (and names) are being decommissioned so that he can put it into his ADD as "minus" RU's.

What are IOS's, ADD (some kind of design document?) and "minus" RU's?

Another engineer is asking me to find information on the following:

  • Virtual/physical port consumption
  • VIP consumption
  • Wide IP consumption

Can someone explain each of these and what is meant by "consumption".

You can't ask any other coworkers for a little help in explaining the terms/concepts? – iglvzx Jul 25 '12 at 2:38
