It's possibly grouped in with one of these 'Confirmation' options, have a play with unchecking some and seeing if you have less alert popups.

After loging in today after unticking that option yesterday, I still got a popup having only unchecked the first one, so it's not that one.

I just unchecked all of them. Let's wait a week for the results – Jader Dias Sep 23 '09 at 2:43
I have unchecked all of them in 2 computers. In one of the computers (the one I use) it has disappeared. In the other I saw the message recently. – Jader Dias Oct 20 '09 at 21:29

Try Sounds -> Settings -> avast! antivirus branch -> click on 'automatic vps update' -> click on the 'sounds' drop down menu -> select 'none' -> apply.

To kill sound: right click on avast icon -> Program Settings -> Sounds -> check the box "disable avast sounds".

Disable PopUp: Program Settings -> Update (Basic) -> now there's a button in the lower right corner called "Details", click on it -> uncheck "show sliding box after automatic update"

remember that pr0n is much cheaper than a girlfriend
