I recently installed a new graphics card in my Ubuntu 10.04 PC due that my onboard video died. It was an Nvidia chipset GEForce 6100. The new graphics card is also an Nvidia chipset, ASUS 210 silent.

After install of the drivers from the Nvidia site I allowed it to save my settings to the xorg file but it was a base settings. I now cannot get the correct resolutions to work. I have made backups from the previous video card control panel but do not know how to load them up in place of the current one.

Your backup file is a copy of a previous xorg.conf? – Zuul Jul 26 '12 at 17:34
